GIGANTIC
I picked up this movie solely for the fact that Zooey Deschanel was in it, and boy, was she in it. The story is as follows: žMattress salesman Brian Weathersby (Paul Dano) finds his plan to adopt a Chinese baby halted by the arrival of a young woman, Harriet (Deschanel), who comes into his workplaces, falls asleep on one of the beds, and starts to affect his life upon waking up. The movie is not left with a clear ending (and I won’t spoil what they do tell you) but Brian’s family is so quirky (in a way that a pack of grizzly bears are quirky, not Meet the Parents quirky) that it’s worth for-going that aspect. Also, Harriet’s father, played by the masterful John Goodman (from, well, everything, but more specifically O Brother, Where Art Thou? and Evan Almighty) will have you laughing in a matter of minutes.
